Work's out. I am hoping that it is labour (-free) day for you today! If it is, do take a breather for today's a gift to be spent on you and your loved ones. It can be an opportunity to show up for important people in our lives - such as ourselves and our support tribe who has been there through our highs and lows.
Given that Singapore is small in size and does not have any natural resources, the most critical resource that she can turn to is HUMAN resource. This refers to us - individuals in various professions. The shared commonality among us is that we are all essential regardless of our roles and responsibilities, and everyone brings to the table a unique set of characteristics and contributes significantly to the functioning of Singapore society.
Since 1960, labour day is commemorated on 1st day of May every year. The rationale for government to make this day a public holiday was intended to honour workers and their contributions to the country. The day off is to make it easier for workers to come together for celebrations and gatherings.
This year’s labour day is a special one as it coincides with the General Elections (GE) 2025 campaign period. This GE is considered one of the most important decisions that any Singaporean gets to make. A sacred decision that can determine the fate of the country and its people for the next few years, considering the volatile global situation at present.

Elections and polling may be in our minds and in conversations, in light that polling is in a couple of days' time. But first, let us take a respite for the day and/or spend time with meaningful connections today. Your schedule today on this labour-free day is up to you. You get to decide how you use your time today.
Just a piece of gentle reminder: mental health is as important as physical health. So, let’s prioritise our mental health… because if not you, then who?
Rooting for you,
Jeanice
