Happy New year everyone!
As the new year arrives, many of us may adjust to new or slightly different schedules (compared to school holidays). I was especially referring to parents with childcare and/or school going kids. Of early morning routines, drop-offs at schools, peak-hour traffic, separation anxieties and elevated emotions. These can cause us to feel stressed (translated to: accelerated heart rates, tensed posture, increased sense of irritability etc).
When that occurs, let's slow down our pace and breathing. As counterintuitive as it may sound, we want to take a moment to drink and savour a sip of our favourite beverage, offer a hug or kiss to our loved ones before we drop them off. These gestures can calm everyone down (especially ourselves) and provide us with more capacity to cope with challenges in the day ahead.
We need to take care of ourselves before we can take care of other matters/ people in the day!
